The central theme of this work is transformative knowledge: beneficial knowledge being knowledge that results in action that leads to transforming one's relationship with Allah Most High and spiritual realization.

Shaykh Faraz Rabbani gives a brief biography of Imam Ghazali, explaining why he was known as the "Proof of Islam" (Hujjat al-Islam), and some of the distinguishing characteristics of his scholarship.
