Understanding Virtue through the Prophetic Teachings (Lesson Thirty-Eight): In this lesson, Shaykh Faraz discusses the virtues of giving the salams. Abu Hurayra (Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said,"By the One in whose Hand is my soul, you will not enter Paradise until you believe. And you will not believe until you love each other. Shall I not tell you about something which will make you love each other if you practice it? Spread the salams among yourselves." [Muslim] Abd al-Rahman ibn `Amr (Allah be pleased with him) relates that a man asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), "What Islam is best?" He replied (peace and blessings be upon him), "That you feed others, and that you give salams to those whom you know and those whom you don't know." [Bukhari and Muslim] He also related that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Worship the All-Merciful; feed others; and spread the greeting of peace--and you will enter Paradise in peace."
