The Virtue of Salams Understanding Virtue through the Prophetic Teachings (Lesson Thirty-Eight): In this lesson, Shaykh Faraz discusses the virtues of giving the salams. Abu Hurayra (Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said,"By the One in whose Hand is my soul, you will not enter Paradise until you believe. And you will not believe until you love each other. Shall I not tell you about something which will make you love each other if you practice it? Spread the salams among yourselves." [Muslim] Abd al-Rahman ibn `Amr (Allah be pleased with him) relates that a man asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), "What Islam is best?" He replied (peace and blessings be upon him), "That you feed others, and that you give salams to those whom you know and those whom you don't know." [Bukhari and Muslim] He also related that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Worship the All-Merciful; feed others; and spread the greeting of peace--and you will enter Paradise in peace." The Virtues of Declaring Allah’s Oneness in the Marketplace Understanding Virtue through the Prophetic Teachings (Lesson Thirty-Three):

In this lesson, Shaykh Faraz discusses the immense spiritual benefits of pronouncing the oneness of Allah (The Most Exalted) upon entering the market place.
`Umar ibn al-Khattab (Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Whoever enters the market and says: La ilaha illa’l Llahu wahdahu la sharika lahu. Lahu’l mulku wa lahu’l Hamdu. Yuhyi wa yumeet. Wa huwa hayyun la yamut. Bi-yadihi’l khayr. Wa huwa `ala kulli shay’in qadeer (‘There is no god but God, One without partner. His is the dominion and His is all praise. He gives life and death. And He is living, undying. In His Hand is all good, and He has Power over all things’) shall have a million good deeds written for them by Allah; Allah will wipe a million bad deeds from them; and He will raise them a million ranks.” [Tirmidhi (3425)]

The Virtues of Emphatic Rembrance Understanding Virtue through the Prophetic Teachings (Lesson Thirty-Two):

In this lesson, Shaykh Faraz discusses the reward and power of tasbih through emphatic remembrance so that it assists us in rising in rank with Allah (The Most Exalted).
Safiyya relates (Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) entered while she was sitting engaged in magnification (tasbih) of Allah with four thousand date-pits. He said, “You were making tasbih with these? Should I not teach you something more than that you have made tasbih with?” I said: Teach me. He replied (peace and blessings be upon him), “Say: Subhan Allahi `adada khalqihi (‘Glory be to Allah by the number of His creation’).” [Tirmidhi (3549)]

The Virtues of Remembrance After Waking Up Understanding Virtue through the Prophetic Teachings (Lesson Twenty-eight): In this lecture, Shaykh Faraz discusses the virtues of Remembrance After Waking Up. `Ubada ibn al-Samit (Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, "Whoever wakes up at night and says La ilaha illa'l Llah wahdahu la sharika lahu lahu'l mulku wa lahu'l hamd wa huwa `ala kulli shay'in qadir. Alhamdulillah wa Subhan Allah wa la ilaha illa'l Llah wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah ('There is no god but Allah, alone without partner. His is the dominion and His is all praise, and He has power over all things. All praise is due to Allah. Glory be to Allah. Allah is Greatest. And there is no god but Allah. And there is no ability nor power except through Allah.') and then says: Allahumma'ghfir li ('O Allah, forgive me!') or makes supplication, then Allah accepts their supplication. After this, if they make wudu and pray, their prayer is accepted." [Bukhari]

Abu Hurayra (Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Should I not inform you of something by which you can catch up to those who have preceded you and be ahead of those after you--and none will be better than you unless they do as you do?" They said: "Do tell us, O Messenger of Allah!" He said, "Make glorify, exalt, and praise Allah 33 times each after each obligatory prayer." [Bukhari and Muslim, as part of a longer hadith. This entails saying: Subhan Allah ('Glory be to Allah' 33 times), Alhamdulillah ('All praise is due to Allah' 33 times), and Allahu Akbar ('Glory be to Allah' 33 times).

The Virtues of Witr at the End of the Night Understanding Virtue through the Prophetic Teachings (Lesson Twenty-six): In this lecture, Shaykh Faraz discusses the virtues of Witr at the End of the Night. Jabir (Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Whoever fears not being able to pray at the end of the night should perform Witr at the beginning of the night. But whoever is avid to pray at the end of the night should perform Witr then, for prayer at the end of the night is witnessed--and this is more virtuous.” [Muslim (755), Tirmidhi (455)]

The Virtues of Prostrating to Allah Alone Understanding Virtue through the Prophetic Teachings (Lesson Nineteen): In this lesson, Shaykh Faraz discusses the virtues of prostrating to the One alone worthy of worship. Rabi`a ibn Ka`b al-Aslami (Allah be pleased with him) said that he would sleep by the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) and then give him water for his ritual ablutions (wudu’) and needs. He said to me, “Ask.” I said, “I ask you for your close company in Paradise.” He said, “Anything else?” I said, “This is what I want.” He replied, “So assist me against yourself with much prostration.” [Muslim (489), Abu Dawud (1320), Nasa’i (1139)]

The Virtues of Four Rakats Before `Asr Understanding Virtue through the Prophetic Teachings (Lesson Eighteen): In this lesson, Shaykh Faraz discusses the the importance of praying the four rakats of the Sunnah before 'Asr. Ibn `Umar (Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “May Allah have mercy on a person who prays four rakats before `Asr.” [Abu Dawud (1271) and Tirmidhi (429)]

Umar ibn al-Khattab (Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Whoever performs the ritual ablution and does so well, and then says, ‘Ashhadu al-la ilaha illa’l Llah(a) wahdahu la sharika lahu wa anna Muhammadan `abduhu wa rasuluh(u). Allahumma’j`lni mina’t tawwabin wa’j`alni mina’l mutatahhirin (I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, One without partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger. O Allah, make me of the truly repentant and make me of those who truly purify themselves),’ all eight of the doors of Paradise are opened for them--and they can enter from whichever they wish.” [Muslim (144), Tirmidhi (55), and Abu Dawud (169), though Muslim didn’t mention the second part of the supplication]
